Furries : A New Generation
More and more young furries are showing up at conventions in droves, accompanied by bewildered parents who sometimes can't make sense of the fandom.  Just as common are furries who have been around for decades now and have young ones of their own.  This panel is for both the adults and the youths in question.  Part meet-and-greet, part informative session, if you're a parent of a young furry, a young furry yourself, or you're a furry who's a parent (or a combination of those) come on and say hello.

Guest of Honour - How (Not?) to Think About Making Art!
This panel will be about the mechanics and thought process behind creating, focused primarily in visual art as that is my expertise but with some information and advice applicable across a spectrum of creative activities. It will touch on concepts related to how to develop discipline as an artist, how to get out of your own way and avoid creating roadblocks for yourself, why the popular concept of "inspiration" may hold you back and how I get around that, and other topics based on my experience of what works for me and for others to make sure the creative work actually gets done and not just imagined.

FurScience! - Autism in the Furry Community Discussion Group
Many furries identify as being on the autism spectrum. In these focus groups, we will talk about why people on the autism spectrum choose to get involved with the furry fandom, and what kinds of things make it easier or harder for people on the spectrum to get and stay involved. The group is open to all – people on the autism spectrum, their friends and family members, and people who are interested in the topic for other reasons. We are especially interested to hear from people who are on the autism spectrum themselves.

The group will be limited to 10 participants to make sure everyone has enough chance to talk. If you would like to sign up, please do so by texting Elizabeth Fein at (412) 205-8844. (This is a temporary "burner" number and all information will be deleted at the end of the event). Signups are only accepted via text, NOT through the online program, in order to protect the privacy of participants. I will also be conducting individual, one-on-one interviews, and you can sign up for these via text as well. The focus groups and interviews are gathering data for the research study “Social Connection through Creative Community: An Ethnographic Study of Participation in the Furry Fandom among People on the Autism Spectrum”.

If you cannot make it to the focus groups, but want to participate in the research, you can answer focus group questions online (Study 5) at furscience.com/participant

Do you get asked if you do free commissions a lot? Are you a new client that doesn't know the first steps to commission an artist? How does one deal with a difficult transaction? Does the client have a complete character reference sheet? Does the artist even have a solid TOS and prices? Does the client know what they want? Does the artist have a solid turnaround time? This panel gives both artists and clients step-by-step rules and answers on how to deal with a commission transaction in a professional and drama-free way, as well as simple rules for both ends to follow which will lead to a smooth and rewarding outcome.

FurScience! - Autism in the Furry Community Focus Group
